Idaho County Free To Regulate Feedlots: Court

Law360, New York (February 3, 2010, 3:50 PM EST) -- Idaho's highest court has upheld a lower court decision allowing counties to regulate feedlots over objections from farmers who complained that state law preempted the local ordinance.

Gooding County's local law on concentrated animal feeding operations, or CAFOs, did not run afoul of the state's overall authority to regulate water quality, the Idaho Supreme Court said in a ruling issued Monday.
