Eni To End EU Probe By Selling Pipeline Stakes

Law360, New York (February 4, 2010, 4:42 PM EST) -- Eni SpA offered to sell its interest in two natural gas pipelines in Germany and Switzerland on Thursday in order to resolve a probe from European competition regulators into whether the Italian energy giant abused its dominant market position over international pipelines.

The European Commission agreed to market test the proposals, with Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes describing the offer as "a very positive step forward."
