Applied, Hynix Execs Swiped Samsung Chip Tech: Suit

Law360, New York (February 4, 2010, 4:54 PM EST) -- Employees of Applied Materials Inc. and Hynix Semiconductor Inc. are reportedly among 18 people who have been indicted in South Korea on charges of stealing semiconductor technology from Samsung Electronics Co. and leaking it to Hynix.

The technology at issue was obtained by the Korean unit of California-based Applied Materials, which makes equipment for Samsung and other chip manufacturers, and passed on to Hynix, the Associated Press reported Thursday, citing interviews with prosecutors in Korea.
