UNM Sues Robot Maker Over Artificial Muscle Patent

Law360, New York (February 5, 2010, 12:51 PM EST) -- A nonprofit corporation owned by the University of New Mexico has accused Environmental Robots Inc., a manufacturer of robotics technology, of infringing a patent for artificial muscles and breaching a licensing deal.

STC.UNM filed suit against Environmental Robots on Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico, alleging the defendant has infringed U.S. Patent Number 6,109,852 — titled “Soft actuators and artificial muscles” and issued in August 2000 — by making, using, offering for sale and selling in the U.S. products covered...
