Conceptus and Ovion Settle Patent Litigation Over Birth Control System

Law360, New York (October 23, 2003, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Conceptus and Ovion settled their series of patent lawsuits, one of which asserted that the Essure birth control system, a Conceptus product, violated an Ovion patent, the companies said Thursday.

Under the terms of the settlement, Conceptus will receive a sole license to Ovion's patent rights relative to the the developer of the non-incisional permanent birth control procedure Essure, and Ovion may not grant any additional such licenses to other parties.
