Inventor Kills 3 In Chicago IP Firm

Law360, New York (December 10, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A Chicago intellectual property boutique became the scene of a bloody assault on Friday, when a disgruntled client fatally shot three people and chained shut the doors of the office before being killed by a police sharpshooter.

The gunman killed Michael McKenna, a patent attorney who leased space at Wood, Phillips, Katz, Clark & Mortimer in the 38th floor of the Citigroup Center in downtown Chicago, according to local news reports.
