Legal Market Stabilizing, But Demand Remains Light

Law360, New York (February 8, 2010, 7:00 PM EST) -- The legal market showed signs of stabilization in the fourth quarter of 2009, but demand for services continues to remain light when compared with historic levels, according to a new report.

Consulting firm Hildebrandt Baker Robbins on Wednesday issued the Peer Monitor Index, which showed that revenues for participating law firms fell slightly and that profits per partner were flat in 2009. Recovery, the report said, remains slow as pricing and other pressures continue to force changes in the legal industry.
