Becton Pulls Potentially Lethal IV Catheters

Law360, New York (February 8, 2010, 5:31 PM EST) -- Medical technology company Becton Dickinson & Co. issued a voluntary recall Monday of certain lots of devices used to administer fluids intravenously, warning that the products could potentially cause blood leakage or an air embolism.

Becton recalled certain lots in and outside of the U.S. of its BD Q-Syte Luer Access Devices and BD Nexiva Closed IV Catheter Systems, saying that a “manufacturing deviation” in the products might result in death or serious injury.
