CSN Looks To Block Lafarge, Cimpor Share Sale

Law360, New York (February 10, 2010, 7:15 PM EST) -- Companhia Siderurgica Nacional, one of Latin America's largest steel manufacturers, has asked Brazil's competition regulator to block French cement maker Lafarge SA from selling its nearly 18 percent stake in Portugal's Cimpor to Votorantim Cimentos SA.

CSN lodged the complaint with Brazil's Council for Economic Defense on Monday after Cimpor again urged its shareholders to reject the Brazilian cement maker's bid to take over the company, CADE confirmed Tuesday.
