Toyota Recall Won’t Hurt Ties With US: Japan Official

Law360, New York (February 10, 2010, 5:43 PM EST) -- In the wake of Toyota Motor Corp.’s international recall of hybrid vehicles, Japan’s transport minister reportedly said Wednesday the automaker’s car troubles would not throw a wrench in relations between Japan and the U.S.

Seiji Maehara, minister of Japan’s agency for land, infrastructure, transport and tourism, told reporters the recall would not hurt the two countries’ relationship or harm fair market competition following a meeting with U.S. ambassador John Roos at the transport ministry, according to a Dow Jones news report.
