Claims Narrowed In EEOC's Cintas Sex Bias Suit

Law360, New York (February 11, 2010, 1:53 PM EST) -- The U.S. Equal Opportunity Employment Commission will not be able to pursue “pattern or practice” sex discrimination claims against uniform maker Cintas Corp., a federal judge has ruled.

The EEOC improperly tried to cram the advantages of a “pattern and practice” lawsuit into the narrower framework of a suit filed under Section 706 of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Judge Sean F. Cox of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan said in an order issued Tuesday.
