Boston Sewer Commission Violated CWA: Enviro Group

Law360, New York (February 16, 2010, 5:08 PM EST) -- A nonprofit environmental group has accused the Boston Water and Sewer Commission of letting stormwater runoff pollute the city's lakes and rivers in violation of the Clean Water Act.

In a 12-count complaint lodged Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the Boston-based Conservation Law Foundation accused the sewer commission of violating the CWA at every step of its regulatory process, from inadequately monitoring rainfall to illegally discharging pollutants in major water bodies, including the Charles, Neponset and Mystic rivers.
