Lawyer Tried In Vain To Diffuse Inventor's Anger

Law360 (December 13, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A patent attorney killed in Chicago’s recent high-rise shooting tried in vain four years ago to convince the killer his idea for a semi-truck toilet had already been invented, according to a published report.

“I recommend that no patent application be filed. This opinion is based upon our search of the relevant records of the United States Patent and Trademark Office,” wrote Michael R. McKenna in the March 2002 document, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
