BP, Conoco, Caterpillar Quit Climate Lobby Group

Law360, New York (February 17, 2010, 3:07 PM EST) -- Oil and gas heavyweights ConocoPhillips and BP America, along with heavy-equipment giant Caterpillar Inc., have announced that they're leaving the U.S. Climate Action Partnership, reportedly to focus lobbying efforts on their own industry sectors.

The USCAP, a group of large companies and environmental organizations launched in 2007 to push for legislation to lower greenhouse gas emissions, said Tuesday that BP America, a unit of BP PLC; Conoco; and Caterpillar had decided not to renew their membership.
