Steel Industry Sues EPA Over GHG Regulations

Law360, New York (February 17, 2010, 2:06 PM EST) -- The U.S. steel industry has fired off a lawsuit challenging the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's plan to start regulating greenhouse gases, saying such a unilateral approach will put U.S. steelmakers at a disadvantage compared with their competitors elsewhere.

The American Iron and Steel Institute filed a petition for review in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit on Tuesday, saying climate change should be addressed through international negotiations and legislation that recognizes the global nature of the issue.
