German Competition Agency Probes Wingas Resale Ban

Law360, New York (February 18, 2010, 5:08 PM EST) -- Germany’s competition watchdog has opened an investigation into natural gas producer Wingas GmbH & Co. KG’s inclusion of a resale ban in certain supply contracts.

Wingas — a joint venture between German-based crude oil and natural gas producer Wintershall Holding AG and Russia’s OAO Gazprom — said Thursday that Germany’s Bundeskartellamt, the nation’s competition authority, is looking into provisions in its contracts that prohibit buyers from resale.
