Novartis' Maalox Labels Linked With Serious Errors

Law360, New York (February 18, 2010, 5:03 PM EST) -- Novartis Consumer Health Inc.'s over-the-counter anti-diarrhea medication Maalox Total Relief has been involved in several serious mix-ups with Maalox antacids and will be relabeled, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.

The drug has been linked with five “serious medication errors” where customers used Total Relief when they intended to use a traditional Maalox liquid antacid, the FDA said Wednesday in a statement.
