Ind. Lawmakers Move To Expand Net Metering Rules

Law360, New York (February 19, 2010, 1:59 PM EST) -- The Indiana Legislature has moved closer to adopting net metering legislation, which would expand the rules under which customers that generate their own renewable energy can get credit from utilities for the extra electricity output.

On Thursday, net metering bills passed unanimously in committees of the state House and Senate, establishing bipartisan support for a move that environmentalists say could increase incentives for investment in solar, wind and hydroelectric energy.
