ITC To Probe Motorola Patent Claims Against RIM

Law360, New York (February 19, 2010, 6:22 PM EST) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission has launched an investigation into claims by Motorola Inc. that BlackBerry maker Research In Motion Ltd. has imported products that infringe five Motorola patents.

The ITC gave notice Friday that it had voted to institute an investigation, based on a complaint filed by Motorola on Jan. 22.

Motorola's five asserted patents, all of which it claims are infringed by RIM's BlackBerry devices and their associated software and components, cover a range of technology.
