Appeals Court Rules For Vicor In Power Patent Suits

Law360 (May 25, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has affirmed a lower court’s decision in favor of Vicor Corp. in its patent infringement lawsuits against rival power suppliers Artesyn Technologies, Lambda Electronics, Lucent Technologies, Tyco Electronics, and Power-One.

Vicor’s lawsuits stem from a patent held by Vicor Chairman and CEO Patrizio Vinciarelli that addresses inherent inefficiencies associated with a type of dc-dc converter called a single-ended forward converter. All four defendants contended that they do not sell products that infringe on the Vicor patent....
