Pfizer Escapes Liability In Prempro Breast Cancer Trial

Law360, New York (February 24, 2010, 7:05 PM EST) -- A Pennsylvania state jury has found Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc., which was acquired by Pfizer Inc., is not liable for the death of a 56-year-old woman who developed breast cancer after taking Wyeth's Prempro hormone replacement therapy drug.

Wednesday's verdict in the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia County comes on the heels of another Philadelphia jury ordering Wyeth to pay $9.45 million after it found the drug company was to blame for the breast cancer of a different woman who took Prempro.
