Supreme Court Won't Tackle MGE Gas Tax Fight

Law360, New York (March 1, 2010, 6:29 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court opted Monday not to hear a Southern Union Co. unit's challenge to an Oklahoma county tax on natural gas that passes through the area but isn't sold to county residents, after the U.S. solicitor general weighed in against the gas company.

The high court denied a petition for a writ of certiorari that Southern Union subsidiary Missouri Gas Energy filed in May 2009 in its fight against a tax levied by the Woods County, Okla., assessor.
