Sens. Aim To Restore States' Control Over LNG Sites

Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and several colleagues have introduced legislation to revoke the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's authority to site liquefied natural gas terminals and hand control back to state agencies, citing concerns that federal officials have run roughshod over local interests.

S. 3056, unveiled on the Senate floor Tuesday, would repeal a section of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 that gives FERC the authority to decide where to place LNG terminals, which Wyden slammed as a “colossal mistake.”
