Agriprocessors Exec's Acquittal Bid Gets Nixed

Law360, New York (March 3, 2010, 12:46 PM EST) -- A federal judge has rejected a bid for a new trial and motions to acquit Sholom Rubashkin, the former Agriprocessors Inc. CEO convicted of dozens of counts of financial fraud in the aftermath of a 2008 sweeping immigration raid on an Iowa kosher slaughterhouse.

Chief Judge Linda R. Reade on Monday shot down Rubashkin's motions in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa, saying prosecutors had given jurors plenty of evidence to uphold their November convictions on bank, mail and wire fraud, money...
