Brokers Can't Lie To Insurance Cos.: Appeals Court

Law360, New York (March 3, 2010, 7:15 PM EST) -- A Florida appeals court has ruled that brokers can be held liable for misrepresentations made to insurance companies, reversing a lower court decision.

Broker First Indemnity Insurance Services Inc. can be held liable for submitting an incomplete claim supplement to insurance company Liberty Surplus Insurance Corp. Inc. in a bid to get malpractice insurance for a law firm, the Fourth District Court of Appeal of the State of Florida ruled Wednesday.
