E.C. Rejects Terms Of E.On/Endesa Merger

Law360, New York (December 20, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- After months of warning, the European Commission has definitively rejected the conditions imposed on the merger of energy companies E.On AG and Endesa SA by the Spanish government.

The E.C. gave CNE, Spain’s energy regulator, until Jan. 19 to withdraw the conditions placed on the €37 billion deal. If Spain does not comply, the EC said it would haul the government into court.
