Asiana, Korean Air Fined $10M For Pressuring Agents

Law360, New York (March 11, 2010, 4:57 PM EST) -- Korea's competition watchdog has hit Korean Air Lines Co. Ltd. and Asiana Airlines Inc. with 11 billion won ($9.7 million) in fines based on findings that the country's two major airlines unfairly pressured travel agents to keep them from selling tickets for budget carriers.

The Korean Fair Trade Commission hit Korean Air with a 10.4 billion won ($9.2 million) penalty and Asiana with a 640 million won ($565,000) penalty, the regulator said in a statement Wednesday.
