Nurses File Class Action Wage-Fixing Suit

Law360 (December 21, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A putative class action lawsuit has been filed against six Detroit-area hospital systems, accusing them of conspiring to keep down wages of registered nurses, who claim to have been underpaid by hundreds of millions of dollars as a result.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in federal court in Detroit, accuses the defendants of stymieing competition among Detroit-area hospitals for nurses, and depressing the compensation paid to those nurses, in violation of Section 1 of the Sherman Act.
