'Red Tide' Bill Creating Task Force Passes House

Law360, New York (March 15, 2010, 5:11 PM EDT) -- A bill aimed at enhancing the United States' ability to monitor and control harmful algal blooms known as red tides has passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a 251-103 vote, making progress toward the creation of an interagency task force on the issue.

Representatives passed H.R. 3650, the Harmful Algal Blooms and Hypoxia Research and Control Amendments Act of 2010, in a roll call vote on Friday. A related bill, S. 952, passed the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation in August.
