Authorized Generics: An Issue To Watch In 2007

Law360, New York (December 22, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Authorized generics are sure to be heavily debated again this year, since Democrats will likely push legislation to prohibit brand-name drug makers from marketing generic versions of their own drugs.

The Authorized Generics Bill (H.R. 5993), introduced in July by Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (R-Mo.), and a companion Senate bill (S. 3695) both aim to stop the practice.
