Employment Litigation Declined In 2006: Survey

Law360, New York (December 29, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Employment litigation in federal courts continued to decline in 2006, depressed by a continued slump in federal discrimination lawsuits, court dockets show.

Overall, federal employment litigation dropped 2% in 2006, extending a trend that started several years ago. Over the past five years, employment litigation fell 4%.

The decline in litigation was led by a sharp drop in discrimination cases, which fell 12% in 2006 and is down by almost one third over the past five years.
