Senate Panel To Probe Bribery Claims Against Porteous

Law360, New York (March 18, 2010, 1:51 PM EDT) -- U.S. Senate leaders have appointed a bipartisan panel to probe ethics allegations against impeached U.S. District Judge G. Thomas Porteous of the Eastern District of Louisiana, including claims that he hid his financial ties to attorneys and accepted bribes.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said Wednesday that the Senate received the articles of impeachment from the U.S. House of Representatives, which voted unanimously on March 11 to impeach Judge Porteous.
