Court Won’t Refer Rothstein Claims To Ch. 11 Trustee

Law360, New York (March 18, 2010, 7:07 PM EDT) -- A district court has refused to refer third-party claims arising from Scott Rothstein’s $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme to the bankruptcy court that is overseeing the Chapter 11 proceeding of Rothstein’s law firm.

Judge James Cohn, who is presiding over Rothstein’s criminal case in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, on Tuesday denied a bid by Herbert Stettin, the trustee in Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler PA's case, to allow the bankruptcy court to handle the claims.
