US Apparel Group Backs Trans-Pacific Trade Pact

Law360, New York (March 24, 2010, 4:56 PM EDT) -- U.S. apparel and footwear manufacturers have given their blessing to a proposed free trade agreement between the U.S., Australia, and six South American and Asian countries, as long as leaders agree to stay away from demanding compliance rules and costly customs regulations.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership Free Trade Agreement, currently in negotiation, would allow U.S. manufacturers to enter new markets and promote stability in existing ones, the American Apparel and Footwear Association said Tuesday.
