EU Seeks Recall Of Acino Blood Thinner Clopidogrel

Law360, New York (March 26, 2010, 2:41 PM EDT) -- The European Medicines Agency has recommended recalling all batches of Acino Holding Ltd.'s clopidogrel — the generic version of blood-thinning drug Plavix — made with active ingredients from an Indian factory, based on concerns about the facility's manufacturing practices.

The EMA’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use asked the European Commission on Thursday to authorize a recall of the generic, which Acino has licensed to five drugmakers that get their active pharmaceutical ingredients from Glochem Industries Ltd.'s Visakhapatnam, India, factory.
