States Sue FERC Over Surcharges

Law360 (January 5, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The state attorneys general of Connecticut and Massachusetts have taken federal energy regulators to court in an attempt to stop a surcharge that would cost electricity consumers about $800 million over the next four years.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, seeks to overturn a decision by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission that would have imposed the surcharge at the beginning of January 2007.
