Pilgrim's Owes Railway $2.3M For Train Accident: Judge

Law360, New York (March 30, 2010, 1:08 PM EDT) -- Kansas City Southern Railway Co. has won about $2.3 million from Pilgrim’s Pride Co. in a breach of contract suit, following a federal judge's finding that Pilgrim’s is liable for a collision between a mail truck and a train near a Pilgrim’s feed mill.

Judge S. Maurice Hicks Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana issued the ruling Monday, saying two contracts that required Pilgrim’s to pay for the accident were valid.
