Sidley School Sex Abuse Probe Privileged: 7th Circ.

Law360, New York (March 31, 2010, 7:25 PM EDT) -- Sidley Austin LLP's internal probe for a client, an Illinois school district, into an elementary school teacher's alleged molestation of students is shielded by attorney-client privilege and the work product doctrine, a federal appeals court has ruled.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit issued an opinion Tuesday that reversed a lower court's decision that had ordered Sidley to produce the documents as part of a lawsuit filed by alleged abuse victims.
