SEC Names 1st Chief Compliance Officer

Law360, New York (April 1, 2010, 7:30 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has named Kathleen M. Griffin as its first chief compliance officer, as part of an ongoing effort to bolster its internal compliance program, the agency said.

The SEC said Thursday that it had created the new position of chief compliance officer, as well as a new compliance unit within the SEC's Office of Ethics Counsel, in order to make the process of overseeing employee securities transactions and financial disclosure reporting more efficient and eliminate any redundancies.
