Tariff Cuts As Economic Stimulus

Law360, New York (April 14, 2010, 12:44 PM EDT) -- Canada’s Ministry of Finance announced on March 4, 2010, that it is eliminating tariffs on a broad range of manufacturing inputs, machinery and equipment. This follows a similar tariff restructuring by Mexico effective Jan. 1, 2009.

Specifically, the 2010 Canadian budget provides for the elimination of tariffs on 1,541 items, beginning March 5, 2010.[1] The majority of the tariffs were eliminated on that date and the remaining tariffs will be phased out by Jan. 1, 2015.
