Congress, Regulators To Probe Massey Mine Explosion

Law360, New York (April 7, 2010, 1:54 PM EDT) -- Congress and federal regulators are pledging to work together to get to the bottom of what caused the explosion Monday at a Massey Energy Co.-operated mine in West Virginia that has resulted in the deaths of at least 25 workers.

The U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration plans to dispatch a team of inspectors and lawyers from the U.S. Department of Labor to the Upper Big Branch South mine site to evaluate every aspect of the disaster, checking to see whether Massey had failed to comply...
