US, Japan To Resume Talks On Beef Import Ban

Law360, New York (April 8, 2010, 2:18 PM EDT) -- Washington will resume talks with Japan in an effort to ease a partial ban on imports of American beef, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack said Thursday.

Vilsack met with his counterpart, Hirotaka Akamatsu, in Japan to discuss the nation’s restriction on American imports of beef, which has been in place since 2003, when the first case of mad cow disease was found in Washington state.
