Texas Court Sued Over LexisNexis E-Filing Policy

Law360, New York (April 8, 2010, 6:22 PM EDT) -- A Texas woman has launched a putative class action against the judge of a Houston-area court, claiming his policy of requiring certain litigants to use LexisNexis to electronically file court documents is unconstitutional and amounts to racketeering.

Karen McPeters filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, alleging that by preventing some types of litigants from filing paper pleadings, Judge Frederick E. Edwards had violated the Equal Protection and Due Process clauses of the U.S. Constitution.
