$19M Awarded To Mothers Of Disabled In Texaco Case

Law360, New York (April 9, 2010, 6:19 PM EDT) -- A jury has awarded $19 million to five Mississippi women who alleged Texaco was responsible for their children’s disabilities, but an attorney for Texaco's parent, Chevron Corp., has vowed to appeal.

The verdict, handed down Thursday by a jury in Hinds County, Miss., state court, awarded $15 million to one woman whose daughter has serious cognitive disabilities, and it awarded $1 million each to four women whose children allegedly suffer from asthma and other disorders, according to Bill Jones, a senior shareholder at Baker Donelson Bearman...
