Indonesia Brings US Clove Ban Complaint To WTO

Law360, New York (April 12, 2010, 5:05 PM EDT) -- Indonesia has reportedly made good on threats to complain to the World Trade Organization that the U.S. ban on flavored cigarettes discriminates against clove, or kretek, cigarettes because of an exemption for similar menthol-flavored cigarettes manufactured mostly in the U.S.

Citing an official at Indonesia's mission, Reuters reported Monday that the Southeast Asian nation had launched a formal dispute against the U.S. at the WTO.
