Nationwide To Settle With Fixed-Pay Insurance Class

Law360, New York (April 12, 2010, 2:19 PM EDT) -- Nationwide Life Insurance Co. is nearing the settlement of a class action accusing it of selling unauthorized medical insurance in Washington state that left consumers with inadequate health coverage when they became sick.

The three plaintiffs in the suit filed a motion Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington to certify for settlement purposes a class of 1,037 people who were enrolled in a Nationwide fixed-payment policy from 2003 to 2009.
