DOI To Study Impact Of Drilling In Arctic Seas

Law360, New York (April 14, 2010, 4:31 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of the Interior has announced it will begin evaluating environmental and scientific information to aid decision-making on future leasing in the Arctic Ocean, following an Obama administration decision to suspend lease sales in the Beaufort and Chukchi seas.

From now through Oct. 1, government scientists will gather information about the two seas, which are in the Arctic Ocean, and report on what knowledge gaps continue to exist in the environmental arena, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar announced Tuesday.
