Drug Maker Drops Patent Appeal

Law360, New York (January 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Pharmaceutical giant Sanofi Aventis has given up its fight against an Australian drug maker over patents on its anti-cancer drug.

Mayne Pharma said Tuesday Sanofi would not proceed with its appeal against a U.K. High Court ruling in favor of Mayne’s bid to launch a version of the drug.

The case involved patents for Sanofi’s oxaliplatin product, which is sold under the brand name Eloxatin.
