Economic Worries Keep Cap On Litigation Boom

Law360, New York (April 16, 2010, 5:57 PM EDT) -- Lawsuit filings continue to inch upward, with a 3 percent increase between the first quarter of 2010 and the same period last year, but experts aren't predicting a litigation boom until clients are more confident about heading to the courthouse.

The number of new cases in U.S. district courts rose to 65,810 in the first quarter of 2010, up from 63,838 filings in the same period in 2009, according to data compiled by Law360 from federal court dockets.
