Bias Suits Rise, Spurred In Part By Stronger ADA

Law360, New York (April 16, 2010, 5:50 PM EDT) -- The continuing fallout from the recession, as well as changes to the law that made it easier to file suits, produced an increase in federal discrimination claims in the first quarter of 2010, with Americans with Disabilities Act suits in particular spiking on the heels of congressional amendments to the law.

While new discrimination lawsuit filings dipped slightly from the final quarter of 2009 to the first quarter of 2010, these filings rose by 5.13 percent when compared with the first quarter of 2009, according to...
